New York State Police say they conducted plain-clothes checks of 20 retail locations throughout Dutchess County that serve alcohol on Saturday, July 20.

This check resulted in the arrest of Veronica Casnocha of New Windsor an employee at Poughkeepsie Wine & Liquor (701 Main Street in Poughkeepsie), police say.

Casnocha was charged with prohibited sales of an alcoholic beverage and first-degree unlawful dealing with a child, both class A misdemeanors.

Casnocha was ticketed and is scheduled to appear in the city of Poughkeepsie Court on Thursday, July 25.

“According to the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, underage drinking is associated with the three most common causes of death among youth, including accidental deaths (e.g., car crashes), homicides, and suicides,” says the New York State Police. “The State Police will continue to conduct underage drinking enforcement details statewide in order to protect the citizens of NYS and its youth.”
